Temporary vs Final All-on-4 Bridge Cost: The Two Prices You Need

Many full-arch quotes include a temporary bridge but treat the definitive restoration as a later fee. Separate provisional and final costs before you compare packages.

Updated September 13, 2026 · Cost-first independent information · Not dental advice

One of the easiest ways to understate a full-arch price is to advertise the surgical phase plus a temporary bridge while the definitive bridge sits in the fine print. A provisional can be fixed, functional and cosmetically convincing, but it serves a different role from the final restoration. The patient needs two prices: what gets you through healing and what completes the case.

2026 U.S. benchmarkCareCredit reported an average All-on-4 cost of $15,176 per arch in April 2026, with a published range of $11,640 to $27,500. That is a planning benchmark, not a quote for your case.

Why a provisional exists

Immediate full-arch treatment often uses a provisional restoration while implants and tissues heal and the bite is tested. Nobel Biocare describes same-day fixed provisional restoration for selected patients meeting immediate-loading criteria.

The provisional phase lets the team monitor function and refine the definitive design. It should not be presented as if biological healing is complete on surgery day.

The final bridge can be the largest later fee

Definitive zirconia or other laboratory-fabricated bridges can carry substantial lab and clinical cost. If the final material is not named in the initial contract, you cannot compare the package accurately.

Ask for the definitive bridge material, laboratory process, delivery timeline and all professional fees in writing.

Adjustment and remake policies differ by phase

Provisionals are expected to be more repairable and adjustable. Final restorations can have different repair pathways. Ask what happens if either bridge fractures, does not fit or needs a bite adjustment.

The easiest audit question

Ask: “If I pay the quoted amount today and everything goes normally, will I owe anything else to receive the definitive bridge?” A clear yes/no answer followed by an itemized explanation is more useful than the phrase “all-inclusive.”

The rule for every full-arch quoteDo not treat a “starting at” number as the total. Confirm the implant plan, extractions, imaging, sedation, provisional, definitive bridge material, lab work, follow-up, warranty and any travel required to finish the case.
Prices, savings, and quote ranges shown here are estimates only. They are for planning and comparison and are not a diagnosis or a case-specific treatment quote. Frequently asked questions

Is the same-day bridge usually the final bridge?

Often no. In immediate-load treatment it is commonly a provisional while healing occurs, though protocols vary.

Why does the final bridge cost so much more?

Material, laboratory manufacturing, design, verification and clinical delivery can all add cost.

Should the final bridge price be in the original quote?

Yes. If it is not, the quote is incomplete for total-cost comparison.
